
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a vehicle fire in the area of Shady Grove Road and Corporate Boulevard, close to the I-270 ramp. According to, MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the vehicle fire involves an HVAC work vehicle. The fire has been extinguished and some lanes remain blocked as crews work to clear the vehicle.
The first full week of December is Older driver Safety Awareness Week- this year it starts today, on December 4th. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a crash on New Hampshire Ave. and Ashton Rd. in Ashton that closed New Hampshire Ave. in both directions at approximately 8am on Thursday morning.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) have responded to several collisions on University Blvd E in the area of E. Indian Spring Dr. due to icy road conditions,m around 8pm on Tuesday night, according to MCFRS PIO Pete Piringer.

Approximately one foot of standing water has accumulated at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and eastbound University Blvd, according to Takoma Park Police.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a collision involving a Metro Bus at the intersection of Layhill Rd. and Bel Pre Rd. shortly before 8pm on Sunday night.

Per Montgomery County: “The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration has started a project to maintain pavement and improve ride quality on I-495 (the Capital Beltway) that will impact Montgomery County drivers through the end of the year.
