AECOM announced earlier this month that an AECOM-led joint venture with Jacobs has been selected by Amtrak to serve as delivery partner for the $6 billion Frederick Douglass Tunnel Program that will upgrade a ten-mile section of the Northeast Corridor (NEC), America’s busiest passenger rail line.
Frederick County Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a vehicle fire and found a tractor-trailer fully engulfed when they arrived at the scene of I-270 South past Exit 26 MD 80.

The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security (OEMHS) issued the following alert at 6:44am on Tuesday, April 2: “Overturned tractor trailer blocks the left two lanes of the Inner Loop of I-495 just before Exit 39 (River Rd/MD 190). The Gaithersburg Department of Public Works announced that road construction will be performed on Summit Avenue at East Diamond Avenue. The work is anticipated to begin on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, weather permitting.
The Maryland State Highway Administration (MDSHA) is warning of higher traffic volumes with many school systems returning from spring break and the collapse of the Key Bridge causing changes in traffic patterns.
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is assisting the Maryland Transportation Authority with traffic control related to the collapse of the I-695 bridge over the Patapsco River (Francis Scott Key Bridge). Drivers are encouraged to prepare for extra commuting time until further notice.
