Drivers across Montgomery County should expect lane closures beginning in early March as the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration starts a series of pavement improvement projects on several major roadways.

A tractor trailer crash with injuries is causing major delays on the Outer Loop of I-495 in Montgomery County Monday morning. According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the crash occurred on the Outer Loop in the area of River Road, near Cabin John Parkway, as traffic approaches the American Legion Bridge. Multiple lanes are blocked.
The Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination reported at 7:18am that three right travel lanes are blocked on I-495 southbound past Cabin John Parkway, with only one left lane open. Delays on the Outer Loop begin before the I-270 interchange and are also extending back onto I-270 southbound. Officials say an extended closure is expected as crews work the scene.
