A joint-venture between Minkoff Development and South Duvall has signed a lease with Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES) to build a 140,000 square foot build-to-suit project on Montgomery College’s Germantown Campus. The campus currently is home to the Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology at Montgomery College (PIC MC) with Holy Cross Germantown Hospital as its anchor tenant. Located at 19710 Observation Drive in Germantown, Maryland, adjacent to the Hughes headquarters complex (11717 Exploration Lane), the new high-tech manufacturing building will house production of Hughes satellite broadband and networking equipment. The Boyds Transit Center project will provide a new bus loop and parking lot on the former Anderson property at the Boyds MARC station. This project will address the increased demand for commuter parking at the Boyds MARC station and the Ride On needs for future expansion of service from Clarksburg to the MARC station.

Per the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Maryland: Jordan Moreno, a/k/a “Joker”, age 23, a Honduran national recently of Washington, DC, pleaded guilty yesterday to federal kidnapping charges related to the death of Victim 1, a 19-year old woman.  Moreno had previously pleaded guilty in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County to First Degree Murder in Victim 1’s death.

Coming soon signage is up for Cava Digital Kitchen at 19865 Century Blvd in Germantown, which is replacing the recently closed Zoe’s Kitchen. CAVA opened their first Digital Kitchen in Sandy Spring, GA back in March.   On Sunday, July 31, 2022, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Amesha Blunt left her residence in the 23100 block of Persimmon Ridge Rd. in Clarksburg.

Blunt is 5-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs 300 lbs. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black long sleeve shirt, black pants and white tennis shoes. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.


Jacob Maxim Loethen was last seen on Friday, July 29, 2022, in the 27200 block of Ridge Rd.

Loethen is approximately 5-feet, 1-inch tall and weighs 90 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing black rimmed glasses, a grey ‘NASA’ T-shirt, red shorts and royal blue tennis shoes.

Deka Biosciences announced that it is breaking ground on a 14,000 square foot office and lab in Germantown which will house a state of the art Research and Development, Process Development, and Manufacturing facility to further develop their novel cytokine therapies. This will be the first facility to house a dual targeted cytokine development lab in the DC/Maryland/Virginia region and the only company in the US developing a therapeutic of its kind. The new headquarters will be located at 20380 Seneca Meadows Parkway in Germantown, Maryland and Deka anticipates the move to be completed in the first quarter of 2023.
