Germantown: Mark Wahlberg-Backed F45 Training to Open in Old Da Marco Location

F45 Training, an Australian franchisor and operator of fitness centers based in Austin, Texas, will be opening its fourth Montgomery County location in Germantown (current locations exist in Bethesda and Silver Spring, though Google lists Bethesda as temporarily closed), with an additional location opening soon in Olney.

The fitness center will open in the 3,299 SF location that was previously home to Da Marco The Italian Place at The Shops at Seneca Meadows shopping center, next to Wegmans and across from Siriwan Thai. Da Marco closed its Germantown location in April of 2020, following 4 years in Germantown. Part of the space is still available for lease and will include the outdoor dining patio for a future restaurant.

Butler’s Orchard Farm Market Opens For 72nd Season Today

Butler’s Orchard and Farm Market at 22222 Davis Mill Rd. in Germantown opens today for its 72nd season. There you will find produce, dairy, home décor, baked goods, and a garden center.

The Farm Market will be open Tuesdays-Sundays from 9am-6pm. The farm’s park is scheduled to open on April 30th.

Damascus: Jimmie Cone Opens Today for its 60th Season

Jimmie Cone, which has been serving soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt in Damascus since 1962, opens today for its 60th season! One of the reasons Jimmie Cone’s soft serve ice cream is loved by many could be because it is made with 10 percent butterfat, which is approximately twice as much as in McDonald’s and Dairy Queen soft serve. Cars usually pack the Damascus location on warmer days with long lines that move relatively quick.

Owners Dan and Bonnie Leiter bought Jimmie Cone in 1990 from Bill and Dorothy Harris, who are the son and daughter-in-law of the original owner. In 1997, Jimmie Cone opened its second location in nearby Mount Airy. The Mount Airy location is a bit larger than the original Jimmie Cone

Montgomery County Based Rehab 2 Perform Ranked as One of the Region’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies

Rehab 2 Perform, which currently has six locations in the D.C. metro area, including in Bethesda and Germantown, was ranked #82 on Inc. Magazine’s List of the Mid-Atlantic Region’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies.

According to a press release, Rehab 2 Perform had a two-year revenue growth of 119%.

Collisions Close Roads in Bethesda and Darnestown This Morning

There is currently an extended road closure on Lone Oak Drive (off of Democracy Blvd) between Montauk Avenue and Mayfield Drive, in Bethesda, due to a traffic collision.

Montgomery County Police advises drivers to seek an alternate route and to expect delays.

Signage Installed at New DSW in Germantown

Signage has been installed at the new DSW (20900-B Frederick Road) in the Milestone Shopping Center in Germantown.

DSW will be taking over the location that was home to Modell’s. The store sells designer and name brand shoes as well as fashion accessories. No opening date has been provided.

Germantown Man Facing Federal Gun and Drug Charges

From the U.S. Department of Justice:

Greenbelt, Maryland – A federal criminal complaint has been filed charging Dwight Luis Clarke, age 31, of Germantown, Maryland, for federal charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, distribution of controlled substances, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. According to the criminal complaint affidavit, Clarke sold crack cocaine and a heroin/fentanyl mixture, as well as seven firearms, including five privately manufactured firearms, known as “ghost guns.” The criminal complaint was filed on March 4, 2022, and Clarke was arrested on March 7, 2022. Upon his arrest, law enforcement seized another apparent semi-automatic privately made firearm from Clarke’s person. Clarke had his initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt yesterday and U.S. Magistrate Judge Charles B. Day ordered that Clarke be detained pending trial.

The Stoltzfus family, owners of the Dutch Family Restaurant located inside of the Lancaster County Dutch Market at 12613 Wisteria Dr. in Germantown, were injured in a serious car accident in South Carolina on Sunday morning. The family was traveling to Florida for a vacation.
