Earlier this month, we reported that the Big Lots at 20926 Frederick Rd in the Milestone Shopping Center, Germantown, will be permanently closing. The store recently began its closing sale and is now offering discounts of up to 25% on select items, according to a representative (5%-25% overall, depending on the items). The discounts are expected to increase as the store approaches its anticipated closure, likely right after Christmas. A specific date is not yet available.

Montgomery Parks’ historic Ovid Hazen Wells Carousel will provide its last ride at Wheaton Regional Park on Sunday, October 27, 2024. After that, the carousel, which has thrilled thousands of children, will be refurbished and relocated to its new home in Ovid Hazen Wells Recreational Park in Clarksburg. Tickets are still available for a nostalgic ride on the carved wooden horses.
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has announced that a 16-year-old Clarksburg teen, currently in custody for a March 2024 shooting, is now facing additional charges related to an August 2024 shooting in Germantown. (more…)

D1 Seafood Buffet & Bar (19961 Century Boulevard) is now open in Germantown. The restaurant has taken over the space previously home to Sushi Legend Cajun Seafood and Bar, and before that, The Greene Turtle. They are currently running a soft opening special that can be seen below.

The Ovid Hazen Wells Carousel will offer its final rides at Wheaton Regional Park on Sunday, October 27, before being refurbished and relocated to its original intended home at Ovid Hazen Wells Recreational Park in Clarksburg. The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is investigating a commercial burglary that occurred on Friday, October 4, 2024, at The Red Rooster restaurant in the 10000 block of Damascus Boulevard. Detectives have released surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him. (more…)
