Back in January we told you that Planta, an upscale plant-based restaurant featuring a menu by Chef David Lee, would be coming to 4910 Elm St at Bethesda Row, in the location formerly occupied by Cafe Deluxe (Cafe Deluxe closed permanently back in March of last year). We spoke with a representative from Planta two weeks back, who told us that the restaurant planned to open in February.
An official opening date has been set, as Planta will be open for business son Saturday, February 12th, according to the restaurant’s social media. Reservations can be made via Resy.com

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) honored National Medal of Honor recipient, Retired U.S. Army Capt. Florent “Flo” Groberg, at January’s Royal Rumble. Groberg was born in Poissy, France, May 8, 1983 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen, Feb. 27, 2001. He graduated from Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, MD, in June of the same year.
Groberg attended the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) and competed in varsity track and cross country. In May 2006, Groberg graduated from UMD with a bachelor’s degree in criminology and criminal justice.

The restaurant says they wanted to create a couple of days for the community to come and visit the anticipated pizza shop, and “to try our pizza, and to give us feedback on what they would like. At the bakery, we always adapt to what the community wants and needs are. We will continue that tradition with the pizza shop and create a menu that is representative of the community and what they enjoy to eat!”
Federal Realty has announced that Jenni Kayne, Allbirds, and Faherty, will open at Bethesda Row in Bethesda, Md., in 2022.

With the approval of the family, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the name of the second deputy found deceased in St. Augustine, FL, on Saturday, January 30th. Deputy Abigail Bieber, a Montgomery County native who patrolled the northwest portion of Hillsborough County, Florida, was fatally shot on January 29, 2022. The death of Bieber was the result of a suspected murder-suicide, according to authorities. They said Detective Daniel Leyden, a member of the HCSO criminal investigations division, allegedly killed Bieber and then took his own life.
