On Sunday, August 1, Southbound Wisconsin Avenue (MD-355) will be closed between Somerset Terrace and South Park Avenue in Friendship Heights. The closure is scheduled from 7AM to 7PM, weather and progress permitting.

The closure is needed for a crane to install equipment inside the Chevy Chase Building at 5530 Wisconsin Avenue. Pedestrians and Ride On route 34 will also be detoured around the work zone. Northbound traffic on Wisconsin Avenue will not be totally diverted, however the left northbound lane will also be closed.

“It was fun working with Chef Stephen Lyons and the Clyde’s team to incorporate some unique flavours. To be able to stress quality ingredients like their locally ground beef and working with local artisans such as Maryland’s FireFly Farms was important to me as well. I hope fans enjoy it as much as I do!”

We learned today that Mazza Gallerie in Friendship Heights has been put up for auction as a foreclosure. As first reported by the Washington Business Journal and Bisnow Washington, the owner of the property estimates to have lost around $533 million in revenue due to the current COVID crisis.

Mazza Gallerie, located in Friendship Heights, is technically on the Washington, DC side of town. Currently, the stores in the mall include Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, TJ Maxx, and an AMC movie theatre– most of which are temporarily closed at the moment.  Back in May, Neiman Marcus announced bankruptcy; there is speculation that this is a contributing factor to the current sale of the mall.
