A new shop that will feature “ice cream, acai bowls, dog treats, and more” will be coming to Germantown Town Center, taking over the location that was formerly home to Town Center Cleaners (next to Acqua Nails).

Temporary signage has gone up at the location stating that the shop will offer everything listed above. A neon sign is also up in the window that reads “100% Sweet.” As of now, we’re unsure if it’s referring to the new name of the location or if it’s describing the upcoming menu.

Construction seems to have begun, but we don’t currently have a timeframe for an opening date.

We will have more information available as soon as we receive it.

Kyoto Matcha and Gong Cha Open This Week at The Block in Pike & Rose

Kyoto Matcha, a matcha and dessert-focused restaurant, will take over the stall that used to house SnoCream.

Their menu features ice cream, cakes, soba, mochi, and more flavored with matcha, purple sweet potato (ube), rose, maple, and other Japanese delicacies. (Read more about Kyoto Matcha here.)

Kyoto Matcha currently has locations in Rockville Town Center and Ellicott City. The Rockville Town Square location opened in December of 2019.

The new location will open on Saturday, April 17th.

Gong Cha, an international Bubble Tea chain, is opening a stall in The Block.

Gong Cha is best known for brewing fresh tea and cooking fresh pearls (boba) every 4 hours, per their website. They also are known for their Milk foam, which is a slightly salted cream topping added to their drinks. They focus on quality, innovation, service, and adding new trendy elements to traditional teas.

Gong Cha has over 1,500 locations internationally, this will be their ninth Maryland location. Their other MoCo locations are along Rockville Pike (their flagship location), inside The Spot in Rockville, and in downtown Bethesda.

Gong Cha will open tomorrow, Thursday, April 15.

Kyoto Matcha and Gong Cha are not the only new vendor joining the Pike & Rose foodhall– A little while ago, we let you know that BB.Q Chicken will be a new addition to The Block as well.
