Bullis Students Create Award Winning Wheelchair-Stroller for Teacher’s Husband
A talented team of ten high schoolers from The Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland, invented and created an award-winning wheelchair stroller. This device allows for people in wheelchairs to independently take babies on a stroll, which recently the invention won two international awards.

Dr. Charlene Mickens Dukes, former president of Prince George’s Community College, has been named interim president of Montgomery College by the college’s board of trustees.
MCPS Virtual Academy Application Window Now Open
For the 2021- 2022 school year, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is offering a full time virtual learning program for students in Kindergarten to grade 12. The Virtual Academy program is now being referred to as Montgomery Virtual.
Back in January, Eighteen MCPS students were named recipients of full-tuition, four-year college scholarships from the Posse Foundation.
The Posse program identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential that may have been overlooked by traditional college selection processes.
Mohammed Choudhury Named Next Maryland State Superintendent of Schools
In a unanimous vote today, the Maryland State Board of Education has appointed Mr. Mohammed Choudhury as the next Maryland State Superintendent of Schools. He will replace Karen Salmon, who is retiring after holding the position for the last five years.
Whetstone Principal, Loretta Woods, Wins Mark Mann Award
Per MCPS: Loretta Woods, principal at Whetstone Elementary School in Gaithersburg, is this year’s winner of the Mark Mann Excellence and Harmony Award. The Mark Mann award is presented annually to an MCPS administrator who has shown exceptional performance in promoting academic excellence, positive human relations and community outreach.
