F45 Training, an Australian franchisor and operator of fitness centers based in Austin, Texas, is opening its third Montgomery County location in Olney (current locations exist in Bethesda and Silver Spring, though Google lists Bethesda as temporarily closed). The fitness center will open in the 3,200 sf location that was previously home to Pet Valu in Olney’s Fair Hill Shopping Center (previously Olney Town Center) at 18100 Town Center Drive, Unit 8115.

Pet Valu announced that it would close all of its stores in late 2020, which included 6 Montgomery County locations (Clarksburg, Damascus, Gaithersburg, Olney, Potomac, and Rockville) affecting 43 local employees. The storefront has been vacant ever since, but the klnb commercial real estate website now lists F45 as the new tenant.

With over 1,750 studios in 45 countries across Australia/Oceania, North America, South America, Asia, Europe and Africa, F45 caught the eye of the Mark Wahlberg Investment Group and FOD Capital. In 2019 it was announced they’d be buying a minority stake in the F45 business which was valued at $450 million.

F45 first opened in Montgomery County in Bethesda in December of 2016. Its second location opened on the ground floor of the Solaire 8250 on Georgia Avenue in downtown Silver Spring in mid-December. Many might remember plans for F45 to open at Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg, but plans fell through during the pandemic.

A projected opening date has not yet been provided. More information on F45 can be found on the F45 Training website.

F45 Training, a global fitness community that offers high-intensity group workouts and is partially owned by Mark Wahlberg, is coming to Downtown Silver Spring.

According to the @F45_training_dtsilverspring Instagram page, the fitness center will be moving into 8244 Georgia Ave., on the ground floor of Solaire 8250.

The Downtown Silver Spring location has been teased for over a year on the Instagram account, but the picture above finally revealed the location.

The Bethesda location, which was located at 4800 Auburn Ave., recently announced that it will no longer be operating from that location, but that they’re looking for investors and a new location to continue operating.

F45 also had a planned Rio location in Gaithersburg, but that fell through once the pandemic hit and will no longer be opening.
