A vehicle caught fire today in the Gaithersburg High School bus loop around noon today, according to several witnesses.

School officials immediately called emergency services, who quickly arrived on the scene and put the fire out. There were no occupants in the vehicle at the time of the fire and nobody was hurt.

Out of abundance of caution the school was put into a “shelter-in-place” until the situation was brought under control. Per the MCPS website, a shelter-in-place simply means that in certain emergency situations, it will be necessary to immediately secure students and staff indoors.
