The Maryland Soccer Foundation, in its 23rd year as the governing board of the Maryland SoccerPlex and Adventist HealthCare Fieldhouse, has elected long-time board member Joyce Fuhrmann as its newest president. Fuhrmann is the first woman to hold the post.
Fuhrmann joined the board in 2013 and most recently served as treasurer. She is also Director of the BSE Operations and STEM Initiatives at the Universities at Shady Grove.

1/26/22 Update: The victim has been identified by Montgomery County Police as17-year-old Jailyn Lawrence Jones, of Germantown. Jones was a senior at Northwest High School.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070 or 240-773-TIPS, or contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the homicide suspect(s). Callers can remain anonymous.
Provisions Cafe has announced that it will be closing after three years in Germantown.
The Cafe opened in 2018 at 19520 Waters Road in Germantown and offered baked goods, breakfast, smoothies, salads, sandwiches, and more.
Update: Maximillian Shin has been located safe and unharmed.

Seneca Valley High School has announced the hiring of Joseph Rankin as the new varsity football coach. Rankin, who graduated from Seneca Valley in 2009, played professionally for four years, including a stint with the Cleveland Browns.
He has been defensive coordinator at the school for the last three years under Justin Sickeri, who he takes over for.
