A husband and wife team of DJs are opening Love People Records, a record store, that’ll be located inside of Antique Village I at 3758 Howard Avenue in Kensington.

The couple, Rita (Reets) and Quartermaine, lives in MoCo. Reets grew up in Takoma Park and Quartermaine grew up in Brooklyn, NY. They’ve been DJing in the area for a combined 20+ years.

Love People Records was originally a record store and label owned by Quartermaine’s father in NY in the 70’s and 80’s. It has always been their dream to carry on the legacy of the store.

“Kensington is the perfect midway point for our fellow record collectors outside of the more busier downtown stores. We are excited to join in the vintage goods route by collectors of all kinds.” Rita told us.

“We have records from classic rock to jazz, soul, r&b and rap. We will have lots of music nostalgia sprinkled throughout the store.”

The store will be open on Friday from 10am until 5pm.

They will also purchase records by appointment only.
