Gaithersburg

Mendez Rodriguez is approximately 5-feet, 4-inches tall and weighs 125 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and a mole under his nose. He was last seen wearing a blue/grey sweater and blue jeans. Police and family are concerned for his welfare.

Gaithersburg

On February 10, 2022, 5th District officers responded to the location of Cinnamon Drive and Mustard Seed Court for the report of a shooting that just occurred. Officers arrived at the scene and located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers provided life saving measures until fire rescue arrived and transported Jones to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Jones, of Germantown, subsequently succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital on February 11, 2022.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify Mcroy as a suspect. On October 27, 2022, Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office indicted Mcroy with first-degree murder in reference to the homicide of Keon Jones. This is an active and ongoing investigation. MoCo Police

Chief Jones has also announced several promotions and transfers within the department. Sean Gagen, commander of the 2nd District Station in Bethesda, is now captain over the Major Crimes Division. Amy Daum, formerly captain over the Special Victims Investigations Division, now commands the 2nd District. Gerald McFarland has been promoted to captain of the Special Investigations Division

Assistant Chief Augustine has been assigned to the Investigative Services Bureau and begins his role immediately.


Silver Spring

Two male suspects were taken into custody right away and Montgomery County Fire Rescue extricated a third male suspect from the crashed vehicle. A loaded 9mm privately made firearm (ghost gun) with a Glock slide and a 9mm replica airsoft gun were recovered during the arrests.

All three suspects, 18-year-old Natnael Akalu of Silver Spring; 18-year-old Wesley Jose Nunez of Washington, DC and 19-year-old Lorezo Antonio Madrid of Washington, DC, were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Each has been charged with armed robbery, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony violent crime, possession of a handgun and other related charges. No officers were injured during this incident and no serious injuries of passengers on the Metro Bus have been reported.  All three suspects are still hospitalized. No mugshots are available.


Takoma Park

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 19-year-old from Silver Spring. On Sunday, October 30, 2022, at approximately 4:00 a.m., DiMya Budd, age 19, was last seen leaving her residence in the 800 block of Maplewood Ave. in Takoma Park, MD.

Budd is 5-feet, 2-inches tall and weighs approximately 125 lbs. She has brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a black North Face coat, light gray sweatpants and black Nike slides. Germantown

The preliminary investigation has determined that a male victim was grazed on the leg by a projectile from a pellet gun. The victim was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. The suspect(s) have not been apprehended.”


Rockville

On Monday, October 17, 2022, at approximately 6 a.m., 4th District officers responded to the location for the report of a commercial burglary that occurred earlier. The investigation by detectives has determined that on October 16, 2022, at approximately 11:03 a.m., a male suspect is observed kicking the front door of the store until the glass breaks, allowing him to enter. Once inside, the suspect approached the Cigarette Cabinet, stole property and then left the scene.

The suspect is described as a White male with a red and gray beard and mustache. He was wearing a white bicycle helmet, blue plaid shirt, blue jeans, black sneakers and a black and red backpack. Detectives reviewed the surveillance footage of the store and obtained photographs of the suspect.


Silver Spring

At approximately 5 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 600 block of Deerfield Ave. for the report of a residential burglary that occurred earlier.  The investigation by detectives revealed that an unknown suspect entered the residence and stole items to include credit cards and cash. The unknown suspect later utilized the stolen credit cards to make several unauthorized purchases in northwest Washington, D.C.

Surveillance video footage shows the unknown suspect making several illegal purchases at a Walmart in N.W. Washington, D.C.


Bethesda

Through the course of the investigation, and with the assistance of L.A. Fitness, detectives developed Samba as a suspect and a warrant was obtained for his arrest charging him with Second-Degree Rape, Fourth Degree Sex Offense, and two counts of Second-Degree Assault. On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, Samba was arrested at his home in Silver Spring.

Detectives determined that Samba has been to several L.A. Fitness gyms throughout Montgomery County and Prince George’s County and believe that there may be additional victims.
