Derwood

A Montgomery County Police officer was transported to an area hospital following an incident Sunday night in Derwood.  According to MCPD, at approximately 8:54 p.m., 1st District officers responded to the 1 block of Indian Hills Dr. for the report of an “individual with a mental illness in crisis.”

 


North Bethesda

One person has died following a two vehicle collision that occurred in the area of Josiah Henson Pkwy. and Randolph Rd. in North Bethesda on Sunday afternoon. Per MCPD:

On Sunday, August 14, 2022, at approximately 4:14 p.m., 1st District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for a traffic collision involving a Ford and an Audi.


Silver Spring

Devante Britton was last seen on the evening of Friday, August 5, 2022, in the 9900 block of Medical Center Drive. Britton is approximately 6 feet, 4-inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and a scar on his neck. Police and family are concerned for his welfare.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Devante Britton is asked to call the non-emergency number at 301-279-8000 or the 6th District Investigative Section at 240-773-5770.


MoCo Police

During these recent thefts, the suspects, in a vehicle, approached the victim, who was walking in the area. A female suspect placed imitation gold jewelry on the victim to distract him/her while removing the victim’s jewelry from his/her person. In many of the cases the female suspect hugged the victim while committing the theft. In some instances, the female suspect remained in the vehicle and committed the theft by calling the victim to the vehicle’s window.

These incidents have occurred in both residential and commercial areas during daylight hours. The suspects’ descriptions and their vehicles vary but investigators believe that there are multiple suspects working together.


Olney

Update 10:22pm: The situation on Olney Mill Rd. has been resolved. The shelter in place has been lifted. More information will be released as it becomes available.

Montgomery County Police are asking residents in the area of 18600 Olney Mill Rd. in Olney to shelter in place as they attempt to take an adult male into custody. MCPD released the following information on Tuesday evening at 9:30pm:


Silver Spring

On Sunday, July 17, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the Watch Pocket store for the report of a burglary. The investigation by detectives determined that at approximately 3:40 a.m., three unknown suspects used a sledgehammer to break the front door of the Watch Pocket store and enter the business. Once inside, the suspects used the sledgehammer to break the glass display cases and steal an undisclosed amount of jewelry and watches.

The suspects are described as three unknown race males, eighteen to thirty-five-years old. All three suspects were wearing face masks and two were wearing gloves. Two of the suspects were wearing gray and black clothing. The third suspect was wearing a green long sleeve shirt, black pants and brown Timberland style boots.


Burtonsville

Malik Shannon was last seen on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at approximately 9:30 a.m., in the 3900 block of Black Burn Ln. in Burtonsville.

Shannon is approximately 5-feet tall and weighs 90 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black jogger sweatpants and black and red Nike sneakers.


Silver Spring

Imani Trenice Williams was last seen on Monday, August 8, 2022, in the 13100 block of Collingwood Terr. in Silver Spring.

Williams is approximately 5-feet, 1-inch tall and weighs 135 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair with burgundy highlights, styled in braids with charms. She also wears black glasses. It is unknown what she was last seen wearing. She may be carrying a multi-colored backpack and a teal rolling backpack.


Bethesda

Westfield Montgomery Mall at 7101 Democracy Blvd in Bethesda will be holding a grand opening event on Thursday, August 11 at 10am for a new space in the mall that Montgomery County Police will be using as a resource room.

This project is an extension and expansion of Westfield Montgomery’s longstanding partnership with the Montgomery County Police Department. The community liaison room will provide an opportunity for visitors to the center to connect and engage with officers.


Bethesda

Montgomery County Police have released a summary regarding the anti-Semitic vandalism that occurred in Bethesda and Kensington on Sunday, August 7. County Executive Marc Elrich has also released a statement on the vandalism.

Per MCPD: On Sunday, August 7, 2022, at approximately 6:46 a.m., MCP officers responded to the Bethesda Trolley Trail located near Rossmore Dr. and Fleming Ave. in Bethesda for the report of a vandalism that occurred earlier. Officers arrived at the scene and found anti-Semitic writing on the Bethesda Trolley Trail near Rossmore Dr. and Fleming Ave. and on the footbridge off of Rossmore Dr.
