MCPS Interim Superintendent Monifa McKnight has shared recommendations of new proposed boundaries for the new Gaithersburg elementary school that will be located at Kelley Park.

The proposed boundaries are based on a study that involves all seven elementary schools in the Gaithersburg High School cluster, as well as Forest Oak and Gaithersburg middle schools.

Seneca Valley High School principal Marc Cohen sent a letter to the community yesterday (Saturday, October 16th) addressing the fight that ended the Seneca Valley/Northwest football game early and the increase in fights at the school this year.

Per the letter, there will be additional security, counselors, central office staff, and MCPD onsite at Seneca Valley beginning on Monday morning to help assure a safe and orderly learning environment.

This event is free to all MCPS students who are interested in hearing from graduate students, professors, program managers, and getting advice and guidance for college applications!

According to a letter sent to families and students of Winston Churchill High School, a female student of the school was assaulted on school property around 11:30 Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at the bus loop while students were on lunch break.

When a parent intervened, the assailant threatened the parent and another Churchill student with knife and then fled the property. The victim sustained minor injuries.

Bethesda

Just three miles apart, every year Walt Whitman High School and Bethesda Chevy Chase face off in the “Battle of Bethesda” between the two schools’ soccer teams.

This year, the girls’ soccer JV and Varsity teams channeled their passion for this rivalry into a greater goal: playing for change by raising money and awareness for Soccer Without Borders– an organization that soccer as a vehicle for positive change, providing under-served youth with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion, and personal success.


Bethesda

Tomas Minc, a junior at B-CC High School, is a member of the DMT (Double Mini Trampoline) National Team and will be competing next month , in November, at the 2021 World Trampoline & Tumbling Championship in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Tomas and his partner at that time, won the Synchronized Trampoline competition for their age group (13-14 y.o.) at WAGC (World Age Group Competition) in St Petersburg, Russia in 2018.
