Montgomery County Public School Bus Stuck in “Sink Hole” This Morning After Water Main Break, No Injuries
Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer reports that an MCPS bus got stuck in a “sink hole” this morning in Layhill, likely due to a water main break.
Board of Education Proclaims October 2021 as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Montgomery County Public Schools
The Montgomery County Board of Education proclaimed October to be National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in MCPS at this evening’s meeting. Read the recognition below:

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has 231 semifinalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship competition. The semifinalists will compete nationally for scholarships that will be announced in the spring. The competition is sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corp.
The MCPS semifinalists come from 16 high schools: Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Walter Johnson, Walt Whitman, Clarksburg, Damascus, Gaithersburg, Quince Orchard, Northwest, Albert Einstein, Poolesville, Winston Churchill, Richard Montgomery, Thomas S. Wootton, Sherwood, Montgomery Blair and Wheaton.
Board of Education Meeting This Tuesday, Open to the Public
The Montgomery County Board of Education will be meeting this Tuesday, September 21 at 10am. The meeting is open to the public but reservations are encouraged.

The slides include updated guidance on student quarantine, on-site testing, screening tests, and hybrid model planning.
An update to how Homecoming festivities will take place in MCPS high schools this year was posted on the MCPS website yesterday.
After cancellations last year due to the pandemic, homecoming festivities will return to MCPS this year, but music and dancing will take place outdoors.
