We continue to work in collaboration with our county health partners and, in the event of an identified COVID-19 outbreak, we will conduct contact tracing and inform the school community of additional mitigation strategies, which may include mask-wearing and PCR or rapid testing on-site or at home. Students in the Montgomery County Students Automotive Trades Foundation (ATF) and the Information Technology Foundation (ITF) will be selling used cars and computers that they have refurbished from 9–11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, at Thomas Edison High School of Technology, 12501 Dalewood Drive in Silver Spring.

The Norman R. Rales and Ruth Rales Foundation has committed to the largest ever donation to the Montgomery County Public Schools Educational Foundation. The five-year gift, totaling $10 million, will support the newly created Ruth and Norman Rales – Patricia Baier O’Neill Scholarship Recognizing Academic Excellence. Launching in the spring of 2023, this significant scholarship program will award $10,000 each to 200 of the highest-achieving graduating seniors annually from low-to-moderate income households in Montgomery County to help ease the financial burden of attending college. Eligible students will have a weighted GPA of at least 4.0 and will need to submit an essay that will be reviewed by a committee established by the Educational Foundation.

Montgomery County Police responded to a report of a student with a facsimile weapon (BB gun) around 10:40am this morning at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda.
Police were able to secure the weapon and no injuries were reported.
