Montgomery County Councilmembers Hans Riemer, Gabe Albornoz, Andrew Friedson, Nancy Navarro and Craig Rice released the following statement in advance of the Transportation Planning Board vote regarding rebuilding the American Legion Bridge and adding capacity to I-270:

“In a letter to the County Council today, Maryland Transportation Secretary Greg Slater clarified the State’s commitment to fund a major transit project serving Montgomery County with toll revenue from Maryland’s program to expand capacity for the American Legion Bridge and I-270 Corridor.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be holding public tours at the famous Washington D.C. Temple this spring, the first time it will be open to the public since 1974.

The church was originally scheduled to open to the public in 2019 but was delayed due to COVID-19.

Police Will Release Body Cam Footage From July 17th Officer Involved Shooting at Gaithersburg McDonald’s

Montgomery County Police held a press conference this evening to discuss details of the officer involved shooting at the McDonald’s located at 18273 Flower Hill Way in Gaithersburg that occurred Friday around 10pm. They announced that the man shot in the incident was named Ryan LeRoux, 21, of Gaithersburg.

Former Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger Selected as New Head of the Capitol Police

J. Thomas Manger, who was Chief of Police for Montgomery County for 15 years until his retirement in 2019, has been selected as the new head of the Capitol Police according to AP sources.

Common Plate Hospitality announced today that they will be opening their first food hall in Maryland with The Heights Food Hall at Wisconsin Place.  The new food hall will be opening in the space formerly occupied by Anthropologie and PF Chang’s on the 5400 block of Wisconsin Ave.

According to a press release, “The Heights’ contemporary design consolidates the bright open space with white walls, art murals, charming textiles, modern lighting, and greenscaping to create a vibrant culinary oasis. Some creative concepts to join the Heights include eight food stalls that will feature a variety of international cuisine, a full-service bar, a speakeasy and Urbano @ The Heights – a contemporary Tex-Mex concept from Common Plate Hospitality”.
