The Washington Business Journal reports that MOM’s Organic Market has signed a lease with Bozzuto Development Co. and Stonebridge to take over the previous Montgomery Planning headquarters in Silver Spring. It will be located on the ground floor of 8787 Georgia Ave. as part of the planned redevelopment of the Montgomery County government facility.

Per WBJ, “MOM’s will anchor the redevelopment of a government facility in Silver Spring into a mix of retail and residential space that’s been in the works for nearly six years.”

Today’s announcement that the state is moving to Phase 3 on Friday has again taken us by surprise. Although I want to see our community open as quickly as possible, we must also proceed with care. We will continue to follow the data and science in Montgomery County, as we have done every day throughout the pandemic. We are averaging about 70 cases per day, and yesterday we had 97 cases– those numbers are concerning because they’re higher than they were a few weeks ago. Because we did not receive advance notice of the Governor’s decision, we need to review the Governor’s order to determine the best way forward. We will do this over the next few days to determine the best way to move forward for our residents and businesses while protecting the public health.

Work is about to get underway on the rio’s Phase II of renovations, as the fire pit lounge is now under construction.

The second phase features more enhancements along Rio’s lakefront, which will include a cozy fire pit lounge and an expansive and inclusive playground (which will require more permits before construction can begin).
