Per the Town of Poolesville:

The Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce that a new Town Manager has been hired to lead the municipality’s management and operations. Seasoned municipal official Tony Tomasello will serve as Town Manager, effective August 30, 2021. Tomasello was selected from a group of candidates who applied during the recent recruitment process, which was coordinated and conducted by the Town’s Commissioners.

Poolesville board president, Kerri Cook commented: “Tony comes to the Town of Poolesville after retiring from the City of Gaithersburg, Maryland, having served the city for nearly 25 years in various leadership roles. We are quite confident in his ability to immediately step in and effectively manage the Town of Poolesville.”

Tomasello served the City of Gaithersburg as City Manager from 2012 to 2020, as Deputy City Manager of Economic Development from 2001 to 2012, and as Program Manager from 1996 to 2001.

“I have spent the largest part of my career as a senior manager in a municipal government setting within Montgomery County, Maryland,” said Tomasello. “I am honored to bring my local knowledge and municipal experience to serve the Town of Poolesville and its residents.”

Tomasello holds an MBA from Frostburg State University, a B.S. in finance from the University of Maryland, University College, and an associate’s degree from Montgomery College in management. He is professionally active with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ Committee for Chief Administrative Officers, the Maryland Local Government Insurance Trust’s Board of Directors and as chairperson of the Underwriting Committee, and is an inducted Hall of Fame Awardee with the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce.
