Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision in Silver Spring

For Immediate Release: Thursday, July 22, 2021

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred early this morning in Silver Spring.

At approximately 5:20 a.m., 3rd District officers and Fire And Rescue personnel responded to the area of New Hampshire Avenue near Wolf Drive for the report of a single vehicle collision that just occurred.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver of a black 2008 Acura TL failed to maintain control of his vehicle while traveling northbound on New Hampshire Avenue, approaching Wolf Drive. The vehicle left the right side of the roadway and struck a metal traffic light support pole. Speed appears to be a contributing factor in this collision.

The driver of the black 2008 Acura was pronounced deceased at the scene.  He is identified as Julio Aldail Rodriguez-Interiang, age 20, of Hyattsville.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continues to investigate this collision.  Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact CRU detectives at 240-773-6620.
