Update: Surveillance Video of Suspects Released from the October 16th Shooting in Downtown Silver Spring

For Immediate Release: Friday, October 22, 2021

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police–3rd District Investigative Section continue to investigate the October 16th shooting that occurred in the early morning hours on the 8300 block of Fenton Street. Detectives have released surveillance video of the three suspects and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., that morning, officers responded to that location for the reports of multiple gunshots fired. Officers arrived at the scene and determined that several residences, businesses and vehicles were struck by numerous rounds of ammunition. During this incident, no one was injured.

The investigation by detectives determined that the three suspects arrived in a white 2013-2019 Nissan Sentra at a gas station in the 8300 block of Fenton St. Two of the suspects exited the Nissan and began shooting at individuals who were across Fenton St. The other suspect quickly drove the Nissan from a gas pump to a nearby location on Thayer Ave., where the suspect exited the Nissan and fired multiple rounds at the individuals who were across Fenton Street. The three suspects then fled the scene in the Nissan towards Georgia Avenue.

Detectives have determined that this shooting was not related to the October 17 shooting that also occurred in the 8300 block of Fenton St.

Anyone with information about this shooting or the suspects involved, is asked to contact the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6870. This remains an ongoing investigation.
