The owners of Nori Japan, one of the last remaining restaurants at Lakeforest Mall, have announced that they are currently looking for a new location. A sign at the restaurant asks customers to follow the owner on Facebook and that they will “notify every customer when we find a new store”. The restaurant is still currently open.
Bani Gbadyu made a name for himself battling on the football field. Now, the former Quince Orchard and Penn State student/athlete has a different battle. “I never thought I would hear the words Advanced Pancreatic Cancer in my life, much less at such a young age. Hearing and learning that I have cancer and being in the hospital for over 2 weeks has been the absolute hardest experience of my life.” Gbadyu wrote in a social media post yesterday.
According to the Penn State athletics website, the 2006 Quince Orchard graduate escaped the revolution and poverty in Liberia by taking a boat with his father and brother across the Atlantic to the United States when he was 10. He later attended Gaithersburg Middle School before going to high school at Quince Orchard, where he earned multiple football awards and a scholarship to Penn State. Following his time at Penn State, he had a stint with the Oakland Raiders during preseason.
Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh today warned consumers to be cautious of purchasing vehicles that may have been impacted by major flood damage. After hurricanes with large-scale floods like Ian, flood-damaged cars often end up at salvage auctions and bought by rebuilders. While these vehicles should be marked “salvage” or “total loss” on the title, dishonest sellers may “wash” the title, hide the damage, and offer these vehicles for sale.
“Consumers purchasing a used car after a hurricane should always be wary that the vehicle may be irreparably damaged and not the good deal it appears to be,” said Attorney General Frosh. Signs of a flooded vehicle may include:
The inaugural DMV Auto Show will take place at the Clarksburg Premium Outlets (22705 Clarksburg Rd.) on Saturday, October 22 from 1pm until 6pm.

Bethesda Central Farm Market will return to Bethesda Elementary School (7600 Arlington Rd) on Sunday, October 16th. The market was operating out of the Bethesda Farm Women’s Market since June due to the elementary school having its roof replaced. The work on the roof took a bit longer than expected, but it is now complete and the market will be returning.
Central Farm Markets was founded in 2008 by Debra Moser and Mitch Berliner. Bethesda Central Farm Market was the first market, which began in a small parking lot with 17 vendors. Today Central Farm Markets has four farm markets in Maryland, DC and Virginia.
MCPS staff and students gathered to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The festivities included food from Hispanic countries, cultural education, student dance performances, fellowship, and fun.

Per the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Maryland: Clayton Alexander McCoy, age 32, of Chesterland, Ohio, pleaded guilty today to transporting explosives with intent to injure and to possession of an unregistered firearm/explosive device, in connection with an explosion at a home in Carroll County, Maryland. A resident of the home was the boyfriend of a woman in whom McCoy had a romantic interest.
The guilty plea was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Erek L. Barron; Special Agent in Charge Toni M. Crosby of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Baltimore Field Division; Maryland State Fire Marshal Brian S. Geraci; Carroll County Sheriff James T. DeWees; and Carroll County State’s Attorney Allan Culver.
The clinics generally will last about two-to-four hours and e-scooters will be available at each site. Those interested in e-scooters can stop in at any time during the clinic.

To be counted, mail-in ballots must be postmarked no later than Nov. 8 and the oath on the postage-paid return envelope that arrives with the ballot must be signed.
