Currently Killacky has a recurring role in the Apple TV series Swagger, based on on Kevin Durant’s life growing up playing AAU basketball in the DMV. The show centers around the kids on the basketball team and Killacky plays the role of one of the player’s moms. The show started filming in June of 2019, when the pilot was shot. Filming picked back up end of 2019 only to be shut down by Covid, before finishing filming in  March of 2021, which required Killacky and the cast to quarantine in Richmond for about 4 months other than getting to go home for a week at a time. Due to the amount of time and work put into filming across two years, and how much the show itself means to her, Killacky calls her role in Swagger her favorite to date. The show is currently waiting to hear if it will be renewed for a second season.

“Being able to see other actors in this market see their dreams come true, even if it’s 2 or 3 lines on a show, is my greatest joy. A lot of my students are retired professionals who maybe wished they had pursued a career and are doing it in their “second act” of life. We’re certainly not the main hubs like Atlanta or NYC or LA so we’re subject to a lot of droughts and downtime so everyone who does it has to really love it and we’ve built quite a community here. I feel very fortunate to do what I do.” she told us.

“It seems that every day we are reminded of how our freedom is so special, and throughout the history of our nation, some special men and women have given their lives to protect that freedom,” said Wayne Miller, a Vietnam veteran who now chairs the County Commission on Veterans Affairs. “The Commission on Veterans Affairs wanted residents of all ages to know more about these people and our Fallen Heroes website is a great way to learn their fascinating and heroic stories.”

County Executive Marc Elrich said residents should take time to recognize the people who sacrificed their lives while serving the nation.

Rockville

Rockville, Maryland, May 26 — Members of the Rockville Mayor and Council and the Montgomery County Council will hold a vigil Friday for those slain this week in an elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. “We are tired of ‘thoughts and prayers’ and we are beyond fatigued with the action of numerous senators blocking the passage of critical gun-control legislation,” the Mayor and Council stated. “The time is now to require mandatory background checks. The time is now to require a moratorium on the sale of assault weapons. The time is now to require a 48-hour timeout for those wanting to purchase any type of gun. Bottom line, the time is now for action.”

The vigil, led by Mayor Bridget Donnell Newton, will begin at 5 p.m. on the steps of the Grey Courthouse Office Building, 27 Courthouse Square. County Council President Gabe Albornoz and the Rev. Barry Moultrie of Mount Calvary Baptist Church will speak. At least 21 were killed in the shooting Tuesday at Robb Elementary School, most of them schoolchildren. The attack was the second-deadliest school shooting in the U.S., following a 2012 attack at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut.

Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, the honorable Judge David Boynton ruled defendant, Steven Alston, will be tried as an adult. The 17-year-old is facing attempted first-degree murder and other charges for the shooting inside Magruder High School on January 21st, 2022 that wounded a fellow student, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office.  He faces more than 100 years in prison if convicted. According to charging documents, “Alston advised he took the handgun to school because he was worried he was going to get jumped.”

Alston was apprehended in a classroom in school after the incident took place and while the school was in lockdown.  A privately manufactured firearm (ghost gun) was found nearby inside the school, which is believed to be the gun used by Alston.  Police Chief Marcus Jones noted at a press conference that there were several students in the bathroom at the time of the shooting, and nobody called 9-1-1.
