A $50,000 winning lottery scratch-off ticket was sold recently at the W Express Gas Station in Gaithersburg. Full story below courtesy of the Maryland Lottery:

“South Carolina resident Samir Khalaf, who is in the process of relocating to Maryland, received a great big Maryland Lottery welcome during his most recent visit. Samir found himself at a Lottery retailer and in possession of a $50,000 top-prize winning Corvette® Cash scratch-off.

The 37-year-old visited E&C Mid Atlantic #7304 in Gaithersburg. Samir went over to the Lottery vending machine and recalls being intrigued by the design of the $5 Corvette Cash instant ticket.

“I like how this ticket looked,” he said. “They don’t have this ticket in South Carolina.” He scratched off his instant ticket while still in the store, learning right away that he won the $50,000 prize.

Samir told Lottery officials that he is still in disbelief but has shared the great news with family members and friends. Currently, his plans for his prize involve putting the funds into savings. Samir currently works as a ridesharing driver and enjoys fishing and crabbing in his spare time.

E&C Mid Atlantic #7304 at 100 North Frederick Road in Gaithersburg will receive $500 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a winning scratch-off worth $50,000. The Corvette Cash instant ticket went on sale in April and has two $50,000 top prizes remaining along with three $5,000 prizes, 10 $1,000 prizes and others ranging from $5 to $500.”
