The Washington Commanders have had a disappointing season in their first season under new owner Josh Harris. Currently at 4-11, head coach Ron Rivera has decided to make a change at quarterback.
In his Wednesday morning presser, Rivera named Jacoby Brissett the team’s starting quarterback- taking over for second year player Sam Howell, who has started every game this season. Howell started off strong, but has played poorly as of late with the team beginning to fall apart towards the middle of the season and continuing their descent towards the top of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Brissett has found success, taking over for Howell in both of the last two games. In those games, he has thrown 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in limited action. Following last week’s loss to the Jets, Brissett had some words of wisdom for Howell to help the young player move forward.
Rivera stated that he let the ownership group know of his decision to name a new starting quarterback and had their support. The Commanders play the 49ers at 1pm on New Year’s Eve.
