Kentlands Update: What’s New and What’s Coming Soon (Winter 2023/2024)

Below you’ll see a list of recently opened and coming soon tenants to the Kentlands in Gaithersburg:

New: Poke Bros
In November, Poke Bros opened its first Maryland location at 107 Market St W, in the space that was previously home to Next Day Blinds. An additional DMV location is also set to open soon in Lorton, VA. More bout Poke Bros: After the founders were introduced to the Hawaiian staple on a trip to California. The appeal of this fast and casual-while healthy-concept immediately inspired the founders to begin thinking how they could bring this unique dish to the midwest. From its inception, we were confident the foodies of Columbus would love the poké concept, but wanted to provide an inexpensive and accessible product in the larger market. After some intense research and trial and error, the Poké Bros founders developed their own brand of poké bowl flavor they are proud to share and call their own. Modeling similar assembly line casual dining concepts, we developed a unique way to build your “sushi in a bowl” and have fun doing so! As the poké movement has caught on, Poké Bros has rapidly expanded into multiple states across the Midwest and East Coast, offering the same fresh and authentic cuisine to a wider range of customers. We will continue to stick to our roots, as Poké Bros continues to grow, and offer only the best fresh ingredients that fill you up but don’t slow you down.

New: Carmen’s Italian Ice
Carmen’s Italian Ice recently partnered with the owners of Kung Fu Tea at 130 Market St and is now open in the portion of the location that was previously occupied by Tutti Frutti. Earlier this year Carmen’s partnered with the Clarksburg Market at 23329 Frederick Rd to open a similar concept in Clarksburg. About Carmen’s: It started with a simple idea. Introduce homemade gourmet Italian Ice to the Washington DC area. Jason Mandler – a native of Parsippany, New Jersey – opened Carmen’s Italian Ice & Cafe in Rockville, MD in 2001. Tracing its roots back to Philly and South Jersey where this dessert has been a mainstay for years, Carmen’s offers homemade, gourmet Italian Ice in over 60 flavors. It also now offers frozen custard, shakes, and a toppings bar.

Coming soon signage is up at Potomac Cookie Co. at 109A Market St in the Kentlands Square shopping center in Gaithersburg, near Moby Dick and the upcoming Poke Bros. Potomac Cookie Co. is known for its “giant size” 4oz cookies and flavors include Choco-delight, Da Fudge, Dorothy’s Slippers, Double Dutch,  Peebee ‘n’ Yay!, and S’more Love. F45, which has been opening locations across Montgomery County with recent openings in Potomac and Olney, is coming to Gaithersburg with an upcoming Kentlands location. The company had pre-Covid plans to make a move into Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront, which fell through, but has signed on to take over the space that was recently closed for a few years and previously home to Subway (between Caspian House of Kabob and the recently closed Edible Arrangements). F45 offers consumers functional 45-minute workouts that are effective, fun and community-driven. F45 utilizes proprietary technologies including a fitness programming algorithm and a digitally-enabled delivery platform that leverages a rich content database of thousands of unique functional training movements to offer new workouts each day and provide a standardized experience across F45’s global franchise. Construction is currently ongoing and no opening date has been announced.

Coming Soon: Quincy’s Clubhouse
Back in June we reported that Quincy’s has officially signed a lease to bring its new concept, Quincy’s Club House, to 245 Kentlands Blvd. The country club style restaurant, bar, and golf venue will be taking over the location that was recently home to Not Your Average Joe’s. Fans of the original Quincy’s, located just a couple miles away at 616 Quince Orchard Rd, will be happy to hear that there is no current plan to close the existing bar and grille and that ownership believes both restaurant are sustainable due to the difference in concepts.

Quincy’s was approached by a golf professional who will run the golf-side of things. TrackMan, is the system that will be used for golf games, lessons, practice, and more. It will allow also for leagues that would provide customers with the experience of playing against people all across the world or country. Existing venues like Five Iron Golf (nearby locations in Baltimore and DC and many more across the country) have similar offerings on the golf-side and  Quincy’s Club House will allow you to play against their members as well.

Non-golfers need not worry, as Quincy’s Club House will also be home to a full-service restaurant and bar. The restaurant will offer a full-service breakfast during the week and a “heavy brunch” on weekends. New cocktails and higher end wine will also be available through the bar in addition to the regular drink menu. A deli featuring Boar’s Head items will be available and the dinner menu will offer a variety of steak, seafood, pastas and more.

Leagues, memberships, and even club-fittings and private lessons will be a part of the offerings. A private simulator area for businesses and other organizations to participate in team-building activities or hold special events will also be available. Each of the simulators will have couches, tvs (so you can watch games or even talk to people you’re playing against) and the ability to choose between a driving range, or simulated course from across the world. An opening timeframe has not yet been announced.

Closed: Baby Bar
Baby Bar, a concept that provided a space where parents could go with their young children where they could each grab a bite and just play, closed its doors on December 2. The unique concept opened at 375 Main St. in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood this past summer. Owner Carolynne Nowrouzi was raised in MoCo and looked to offer “food, fun, and socializing” where “you enjoy a coffee and a bite, while your little ones get yummy food and a baby-friendly place to play!” Her announcement via Facebook states that she has made the decision to not renew the lease so she can spend more time with her family and working on her other business.
