Popular Shuttered Sushi Restaurant in Germantown To Reopen in Howard County

When Lotte in Germantown closed at the end of 2022, many wondered what would become of Rainbow Sushi Inc.- the sushi spot that operated inside of the Lotte food court for 15 years.

Rainbow Sushi Inc., unrelated to the Rainbow Sushi located in Cloppers Mill Village (near Shoppers in Germantown), initially left a message on its social media announcing that it would be closing by the end of 2022 and “thinking of an expansion” that would include a sit-down restaurant.

Earlier this year, they announced that they have rebranded to Oya Sushi Inc. and leased a new restaurant space that will be located at 10775 Birmingham Way in the Waverly Woods shopping center in Woodstock, MD (Howard County). The area is also referred to as Marriottsville, just outside of Woodstock.

Oya Sushi hopes to open its new location in 2024 and if you’re willing to make the trip, it is 32 miles and approximately 45 minutes away from its old stomping grounds in Germantown (now home to New Grand Mart). You can follow their progress on Instagram at @oyasushiinc
