Update: Detectives Investigate River Road Single-Vehicle Fatal Collision: Victim’s Identity Released

Montgomery County Police have released additional information regarding a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred last week.

Per the news release: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single-vehicle fatality that occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

At 12:21 a.m., on Friday, April 26, 1st District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue responded to the location for the report of a collision. 65-year-old George Toman, of Poolesville, was located inside an orange 2011 Honda Element and pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation has revealed that Toman was traveling in the Honda northbound on River Road, approaching Seneca Road, which is a “T” intersection. The Honda did not stop at the stop sign, crossed Seneca Road and collided with a tree located off the roadway.

After Toman did not arrive home, his family members tracked his phone to the location that was not visible to traffic from the road and contacted 911.
