Montgomery Parks Issues Statement on Potomac Horse Center

On Wednesday, the Potomac Horse Center (PHC) at 14211 Quince Orchard Rd in North Potomac announced it will close on July 22. Later that day, residents put together a petition with hopes to save the center.

Montgomery Parks issued the following statement on Friday, May 3: “Potomac Horse Center (PHC), a private business, recently notified Montgomery Parks of its intent to end its lease with Montgomery Parks. Since its lease began in 1993, PHC has been contractually responsible for all maintenance and capital improvements at the facility. However, structural assessments performed by an outside expert in the fall of 2023 showed major life safety and structural concerns on site.

Montgomery Parks requested that PHC develop a plan to fund the necessary repairs and maintain a viable equestrian operation. However, PHC instead notified Montgomery Parks of its intent to cease operations and vacate the property.  In the near term, Montgomery Parks will take steps to address immediate safety issues on the site.”
