Update on Dawson’s Market Pending Closure

On Thursday, we reported that Dawson’s Market at 225 N. Washington St. in Rockville Town Square will be permanently close at the end of June after twelve years in business.

Dawson’s Market sent the following message to its customers with additional information about the closure on Friday:

“Dear Dawson’s Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you of some very unfortunate news you may have seen released yesterday. I had hoped to be able to share this with you, our loyal customer base, before it went viral but that did not happen. Dawson’s Market will be closing at the end of June because our lease has been terminated.

We hope you will continue to support us in the coming weeks. Our goal is to sell everything by the 30th, so take the opportunity to stock up on your favorites and unique items only found at Dawson’s. We will keep our hot bar, salad bar, and Wednesday Grill tents running through June. Our goal is to continue providing the same shopping experience you have enjoyed and supported over the past 12 years. Only in the final days will we stop receiving deliveries and allow inventory to diminish. So please come in, fill your baskets, and enjoy. Save the goodbyes for the last week of June.

Over the past 12+ years, we have poured our hearts and souls into Dawson’s. Since taking ownership in late 2018, I have been dedicated to keeping the store running, providing meaningful employment opportunities for our staff, including our special needs individuals, and delivering quality food and service to our loyal customers. The memories we’ve created together will always remain in my heart from our first days building equipment in 2012 to working with so many local vendors to all of the wonderful staff, many of who have been with us from the beginning, to all of the wonderful vendors, distributors, and customers we have known over the years. And who can forget COVID, where we build an online site over the weekend and had to turn our personal vehicles into delivery trucks to stay in stock. Dawson’s has impacted so many people over the past 12 years, and many of you were instrumental in our return after the closing in 2018. I truly appreciate the tremendous outpouring of support from our customers, vendors, and government officials. You are all a testament to the vibrant community we’ve built together.

While it is devastating to see this chapter come to an end, I am hopeful that new opportunities await each of us. We are working on opportunities to keep the Dawson’s Community alive in Rockville so please stay tuned for more news to come. You never know what doors may open that we wouldn’t have otherwise explored.

Thank you to all of our staff for your hard work, dedication, and unwavering support throughout the years. Let’s cherish the time we have left together and stay connected as we navigate this transition.”
