Emergency Communications Center handled/dispatched over 100 calls for service between 5:30pm and  7:30pm on Monday evening, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) chief spokesperson Pete Piringer.

The calls included lightning strikes, wires down, trees down, roads blocked, and isolated power outages. Piringer stated that most of the activity occurred in Bethesda and Potomac. Some of the calls can be seen here.

One of the calls that required the most attention was lightning striking a house in Darnestown, with approximately 60 firefighters responding to the scene. The lightning strike caused a fire and four adults were displaced after the building was deemed unsafe to occupy. There were no injuries reported.
