Second Arrest Made This Week For First Degree Assault at the Same Grocery Store

Chief Antonio DeVaul from the Takoma Park Police Department has announced the arrest of Jose Daniel Lopez, 51, of no fixed address, for first degree assault that occurred at Aldi on Saturday afternoon.

According to Takoma Park Police, “On August 3 at approximately 12:12 pm, Takoma Park Police were dispatched to the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue (Aldi’s grocery store) in response to a 1st degree assault.  The suspect, identified as Lopez, brandished a knife threatening a customer.  Lopez was taken into custody by officers without incident.

Lopez was arrested, charged accordingly and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.”

This is the second arrest for first degree assault at the grocery store in the last week. On Tuesday, July 30th, a man was arrested after brandishing a knife and threatening a store employee and customer.
