On August 15, Takoma Park Police responded to two armed robberies that occurred within minutes of each other. The details of the incidents, courtesy of Takoma Park Police, are as follows:
1100 Block of University Blvd: At approximately 5:17 AM, officers responded to an armed robbery in the 1100 block of University Blvd. The victim was standing by a tree in front of the Capital One bank when a suspect exited a white SUV and approached him. The suspect, described as a light-skinned Black male wearing a white t-shirt and black pants, pointed a black handgun at the victim and demanded property. The suspect forcibly took the victim’s belongings before fleeing the scene. A second suspect was observed in the passenger seat of the vehicle. The victim did not sustain serious physical injuries. 7300 Block of New Hampshire Avenue: At approximately 5:30 AM, officers responded to a second armed robbery at a bus stop in the 7300 block of New Hampshire Avenue. The victim was approached by a suspect who exited a white SUV and pointed a black handgun at him. The suspect, who was the passenger in the vehicle, demanded property and forcibly took it from the victim. A second suspect, who was driving the SUV, also exited the vehicle, pointed a gun at the victim, and demanded additional property. The victim complied, and the driver struck the victim in the face with the gun, causing a small laceration to the victim’s left ear. The suspects then fled the area in an unknown direction. Both incidents occurred in Ward 6,and there were similar armed robberies reported around the same timeframe in Prince George’s County. The lookout information has been shared with surrounding jurisdictions, and the investigations are ongoing.
