The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has shared the following via social media:
MCPD is on scene of a shooting in the 8020 block of 13th Street [Silver Spring]. One male pronounced dead on scene. The scene is secure. More information will be released as it becomes available.”
Update per MCPD:
Montgomery County Police are investigating a September 2 fatal shooting in Silver Spring,
where an adult male was found with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, “At approximately 9:44 a.m., Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 8000 block of 13th Street, Silver Spring, for a report of one–down. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, in an alleyway, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite life–saving measures, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
There is no suspect in custody at this time. Detectives from the Major Crimes Division are actively investigating this homicide. A news release will be distributed once more information becomes available, including the deceased’s name, following proper notification of next of kin.”
