Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to an electric vehicle fire on Friday in Parking Garage A at Rockville Town Square, located at 300 Hungerford Drive near Beall Avenue, temporarily shutting down traffic at the intersection.
According to MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer, the fire occurred on the fourth level of the garage and involved a single vehicle, which was a total loss. Heavy smoke conditions were reported, and the sprinkler system did not activate. Fire investigators determined the cause to be accidental and electrical in nature, though not related to the vehicle’s battery. While nearby vehicles were not damaged, the structure sustained some damage.
No injuries were reported. We will provide an update if additional verified information becomes available.
