Chicken Salad Chick Now Aiming to Open Second Maryland Location in May

Chicken Salad Chick is adjusting its timeline for its upcoming Olney location and is now aiming for a late spring opening, rather than the March debut previously anticipated.

As first reported in November, the fast-growing Southern-style restaurant is planned for Olney Village Center at 18209 Village Center Drive, next to Hallmark, in the space formerly occupied by a karate studio. At the time, co-owner Carrie Tydings shared that the team was targeting a March opening as construction preparations got underway.

The owners now say the schedule has shifted slightly, with the restaurant expected to open later this spring (possibly May) as work continues behind the scenes. While the opening date has moved back, the plan for the space and the overall vision for the restaurant remain the same.

The Olney restaurant will be operated by franchise owners Jim Schleckser and Carrie Tydings, both of whom have deep roots in the community. The pair has long been involved in private school and nonprofit boards, as well as youth athletics, and they view the restaurant as another way to invest locally and give back to the area they call home.

They have previously shared that the brand’s emphasis on hospitality, service, and community connection played a major role in their decision to bring the concept to Montgomery County. Their goal is to create a welcoming neighborhood spot where guests feel at home, from friendly greetings at the door to the menu of signature chicken salad flavors.

Once it opens, the Olney location will become Chicken Salad Chick’s second restaurant in Maryland, following the Westminster location. Additional details, including hiring plans and opening week celebrations, are expected to be announced as construction continues and a more specific opening date comes into focus.
