A man has died following a single-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon in the Derwood area.
According to Montgomery County police, officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded around 1:41pm on April 5 to the area of Crabbs Branch Way and Moccasin Lane for a reported collision.
Preliminary findings indicate the driver of a Toyota was traveling southbound on Crabbs Branch Way when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The adult male driver was transported to a nearby hospital after the crash. Police say he died from his injuries on the morning of Monday, April 6.
The department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate. Authorities say additional details, including the identity of the victim, will be released after next of kin has been notified.
MCPD Update: “Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday, April 5, 2026. The collision resulted in the death of 52-year-old Sukhbir Singh of Gaithersburg.
At approximately 1:41 p.m., 1st District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Crabbs Branch Way and Moccasin Lane for the report of a single-vehicle collision.
The investigation has revealed that a white 2021 Toyota Avalon was traveling south on Crabbs Branch Way when, for reasons still under investigation, it left the roadway and struck a tree.
Upon arrival, an adult male driver, later identified as Singh, was located and transported to an area hospital, where he died on the morning of Monday, April 6.
