Update: Popular Mexican Restaurant Temporarily Closed Following Fire

Mi Rancho’s Silver Spring location is temporarily closed following a fire on the restaurant’s roof late Wednesday night.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews were dispatched to the restaurant at 8701 Ramsey Ave around 11:37pm on August 19. According to an update by MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer, firefighters located a fire on the roof, where three contract workers were trapped.

The workers had been removing a utility pole that had fallen onto the restaurant earlier in the day. Assistant Chief David Pazos said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, but its origin appears to be associated with wires on the pole. The three workers declined medical transport, and no other injuries were reported.

Mi Rancho announced that the restaurant will remain closed until necessary repairs are completed. The restaurant’s Germantown location remains open. “We are extremely thankful that everyone is safe,” Mi Rancho stated. “Our Silver Spring location will remain closed until further notice, and we will share updates as soon as we have more information.”
