A new burger concept is coming to Pike & Rose, with Char’d set to take over the space that was home to BurgerFi for more than six years.
Earlier today, we reported that BurgerFi, located at 11881 Grand Park Ave in North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose, has permanently closed. The fast casual burger chain opened at Pike & Rose in April 2019 and had been a fixture in the development ever since. BurgerFi is known for its all natural Angus beef burgers, double battered onion rings, handcut fries, wings, shakes, and custard. Its Gaithersburg location at Rio Lakefront and its Downtown Silver Spring location will remain open.
Taking over the space will be Char’d, a newer burger brand that has been expanding quickly throughout the region. Char’d most recently operated a food truck at 8600 Zetts Ave in Gaithersburg and opened its first brick and mortar restaurant at Tysons Galleria in Tysons Corner, Virginia.
Co-founders, Khallil Daher and Subhan Jahromi tell us, “We’ve seen an overwhelming amount of support from our Maryland fan base, and the demand from our loyal guests made opening a location in Maryland an easy decision. Over the last 18 months, Char’d has expanded into three states, and this momentum continues with our first Maryland location at Pike & Rose. We chose Pike & Rose because it aligns perfectly with our vision of being in vibrant, highly accessible destinations that serve the broader Maryland community. Federal Realty has been an incredible partner, and we’re honored to be opening at Pike & Rose, with many more Maryland locations planned over the next 24 months. We’re also excited to share that our Washington, DC location is scheduled to open early next year. We can’t wait to bring our clean, premium, seed-oil-free, grass-fed smashburgers and duck-fat fries to Maryland permanently, and we’re excited to launch in January 2026.”
Char’d launched its first food truck in Northern Virginia in April 2023, followed by the opening of its Gaithersburg truck in November 2023. The move into Pike & Rose will mark its first Montgomery County (and Maryland) brick and mortar location.
The menu at Char’d focuses on smashed style burgers and comfort food. Offerings include the Original Char’d, made with grass fed beef, American cheese, shredduce, onion, pickle, and the brand’s signature CHAR’D sauce, as well as the Hot Char’d, which adds pickled jalapeños and CHAR’D jalapeño sauce. Fries, grilled cheese sandwiches, wings, and additional sides round out the menu.
No opening date has been announced yet for the Pike & Rose location, but CHAR’D expects it to be soon.
