The Montgomery County Police Department has released its daily crime summary, highlighting reported incidents from July 8 and July 9, 2026. The report includes armed carjackings, multiple vehicle thefts, residential burglaries, aggravated assaults, hate/bias incidents, weapons offenses and several arrests across the county.
The 1st District, which covers Rockville, North Bethesda and Potomac, reported an aggravated assault arrest after a man allegedly threw boiling water on another man during a dispute on Twinbrook Parkway, causing serious burns. Officers also reported a residential burglary on Canterbury Way after a man entered a home, was confronted by residents, broke a window while fleeing and was later identified, leading to an arrest warrant. Three vehicles were also reported stolen from Seurat Court, Meadow View Drive and Pissaro Court.
The 2nd District, which covers Bethesda and Chevy Chase, reported the theft of a motorcycle from a parking garage on Trade Street.
The 3rd District, which covers Silver Spring and Kensington, reported a man shouting antisemitic statements at a person outside a synagogue on Baltimore Road before walking away. Police also investigated three catalytic converter thefts, a burglary and auto theft series on Bentley Park Drive that resulted in an arrest, and a weapons possession arrest after a driver fled a traffic stop, struck a curb and another vehicle, then ran while carrying two handguns. Additional incidents included a stolen vehicle on Lockwood Drive, another stolen vehicle on Mt. Pisgah Road and a weapons discharge after a projectile struck an apartment window on Eastern Avenue. No injuries were reported.
The 4th District, which covers Wheaton and Aspen Hill, reported two armed carjackings. In one incident, an armed group stole a woman’s vehicle on Bluff Terrace before it was later recovered. In another, on Georgia Avenue, a man allegedly displayed an edged weapon, forced a woman from her parked vehicle and knocked her down as he drove away. Police also investigated a catalytic converter theft on Collingwood Terrace.
The 5th District, which covers Germantown, Clarksburg and Damascus, reported hateful graffiti written in chalk on the front door and walkway of a home on Thackery Place.
The 6th District, which covers Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, reported a vehicle stolen overnight from a parking lot on Quince Orchard Boulevard. Police also responded to an aggravated assault on Montgomery Village Avenue after a man allegedly confronted a group of girls, shot one with a BB gun causing minor injuries and pulled a knife on two others while threatening them. In a separate aggravated assault on North Frederick Avenue, a man allegedly forced his way into an apartment, threatened to kill the resident and attacked him with a box cutter before the resident restrained him until officers arrived.
