Kitchen Social Targets Late August Opening for First Maryland Location

Kitchen Social is nearing the finish line on its first Maryland location, with the Ohio-based restaurant now targeting a late August opening at Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg.

Kitchen Social partner Justin Stratford told The MoCoShow that the restaurant is planning to open at the very end of August, with staff training expected to begin a couple of weeks beforehand. “We are planning to open at the very end of August,” Stratford said. “We’ll start training a couple weeks ahead of that, but that’s about the time it should officially open to the public.”

The restaurant, located at 203 Crown Park Avenue, remains fenced off as construction wraps up, but significant progress has been made in recent weeks. Permanent exterior signage has been installed, and much of the interior and exterior work now appears complete. Kitchen Social is taking over the former Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar space, which closed in May 2024 after serving the Downtown Crown community for nearly a decade.

Founded in Ohio, Kitchen Social is known for its modern American comfort food, open-kitchen concept, and lively dining atmosphere. The menu features items such as house-made pretzels, Brussels sprouts, short rib risotto, Korean BBQ salmon, wood-grilled steaks, and an extensive selection of craft cocktails, beer, and wine.
