Towne Plaza on Rockville Pike has welcomed several new restaurants over the past year and a half, with another preparing to open as the shopping center continues its recent resurgence.
Maryland and Montgomery County’s third Tatte Bakery & Café opened in January 2025 at 12232 Rockville Pike, breathing new life into the shopping center and helping jump-start its recent wave of restaurant additions.
California Fish Grill followed in November, opening its first Maryland location in the space previously occupied by Katsu Go. The location was once expected to become a Boston Market before the chain dropped its plans in 2022.
Founded in 1998, California Fish Grill is a fast-casual seafood restaurant known for affordable, sustainably sourced seafood. Its menu features grilled seafood plates, coastal tacos, hand-battered seafood, chowder, salads and plant-based alternatives.
Wonder opened its first Montgomery County location at Towne Plaza in June. The restaurant marked the first of four planned Montgomery County locations for the rapidly expanding company, which combines dine-in, takeout and delivery while allowing customers to mix and match dishes from multiple restaurant brands in a single order.
Coming Soon signage is now up for Maryland’s first Just Salad location at 12242 Rockville Pike, next to Wonder. A building permit valued at $495,000 has also been approved for construction, though an opening date has not been announced.
Founded in 2006, Just Salad has grown to more than 100 locations across seven states. Its menu includes salads, grain bowls, wraps, soups and smoothies, along with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.
The recent additions join longtime tenants including Comfort One Shoes and Navy Federal Credit Union at the shopping center, which is located next to Federal Plaza and across Rockville Pike from Pike Center.
