Maryland’s Best Cinnamon Roll Can Be Found at Beloved Cafe, According to Yelp

Yelp has named Blue Moon Cafe in Baltimore as having the best cinnamon roll in Maryland as part of its newly released list of the top cinnamon rolls in the United States, according to Yelp Elite reviewers.

Located at 1621 Aliceanna Street in Baltimore’s historic Fells Point neighborhood, Blue Moon Cafe has been a popular breakfast and brunch destination for three decades. The restaurant originally opened in 1996 and was founded by Sarah Simington alongside her mother, Sherri, a veteran of the diner industry.

In highlighting the cafe, Yelp praised its freshly baked cinnamon roll, describing it as a fluffy bun covered in icing. “Dense and sweet, Yelpers say you’ll have enough to take home and enjoy later,” Yelp wrote.

The recognition comes as part of Yelp’s all-time list of the top cinnamon rolls in the country, which was developed using reviews from members of the Yelp Elite Squad. Yelp identified businesses with a high concentration of Elite reviews mentioning cinnamon rolls, then ranked them using several factors, including overall review volume and ratings. All businesses included were listed as open as of August 18, 2026.

Blue Moon Cafe is perhaps best known for its massive, over-the-top breakfast creations, particularly its signature Captain Crunch French Toast. The dish features thick-cut French toast coated in Captain Crunch cereal and topped with sweet cream and berries. The restaurant has also gained national attention through an appearance on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

Beyond the food, Blue Moon Cafe has developed a reputation for its eccentric atmosphere. The small, colorful restaurant is filled with artwork, stickers, toys, and trinkets reflecting Simington’s eclectic, rock-and-roll-inspired style. Its popularity and limited seating often result in waits during busy weekend brunch hours.

Nearly 30 years after opening, the Baltimore institution continues to attract diners for its creative comfort food, with its oversized cinnamon roll now earning recognition among the best in the country.
