Silver Spring: Taste the World in Fenton Village Returns in May

The 12th annual Taste the World in Fenton Village event will take place on Sunday, May 22.  Over 30 restaurants will be participating, including The Angry Jerk, The Big Greek Cafe, City Cafe, Kefa Taste, Palisades Lounge, and Sweet Sweet Kitchen. According to the event’s website, “Great for families and people of all ages. Attendees pick up their free event “passport at one of three port entries or on-line to gain access to the list of 32 participating restaurants that offer tastes of their standard menus for anywhere from $7 or less. Purchase a “taste” and get your passport stamped from three restaurants and submit your entry at one of the entrance tables. Drawing for cash door prizes will take place at 5:50pm. Or, go digital and take a picture of your receipts from three different restaurants and submit online. Digital door prizes will be awarded the day after the event.”

This is the 12th year of Taste the World in Fenton Village (TTWFV) – the largest restaurant crawl in the Metro area. This marquee event draws food lovers from throughout the area with the promise of samples at more than 30 different restaurants representing international food from five continents. Taste The World provides a great opportunity for attendees to try delicious food from across the globe, while supporting locally-owned, small businesses and exploring the wonderful Fenton Village neighborhood in Silver Spring.

About Fenton Village:
Fenton Village is a diverse, eclectic neighborhood adjacent to downtown Silver Spring. This 6×2 block is home to 200+ small independent businesses that includes more than 40 restaurants, spas, markets, yoga studios and much more. Fenton Village is a block away from the core of downtown. Its boundaries are approximately Georgia Avenue to the West; Fenton Street to the East; Wayne Avenue to the North; and East/West Hwy and the railroad tracks to the South.

Walking to Fenton Village is easy for the many residents that live in the adjacent single-family neighborhoods and the many multi-family communities throughout downtown. It is equally accessible to the many businesses throughout the rest of downtown and the Takoma Park / Silver Spring campus of the Montgomery County College. Many buses provide transit access to and through Fenton Village. The WMATA Red Line is only three blocks away. And the future Purple Line will have a station in Fenton Village, at the Silver Spring Library.

Parking in the area abounds. There is one parking garage in the middle of Fenton Village, and three other garages within easy walking distance. On-street parking is also plentiful. Fenton Village has something for everyone. It is a place to bring family and friends, connect with local businesses, and enjoy a truly unique experience.
