Chief Antonio DeVaul from the Takoma Park Police Department has announced the arrest of Antonio Thompson, 29, of no fixed address, for stolen auto, theft from auto and 1st degree assault.

According to Takoma Park Police, “On March 26, at approximately 6:14 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7100 block of Willow Avenue for the report of an assault, theft from auto and stolen auto.  Upon arrival at the scene, officers encountered a situation where the suspect, identified as Thompson, was being restrained on the ground by the victim and a witness. It was reported that Thompson had stolen a truck belonging to the victim and attempted to flee the area. The victim and witness followed the stolen vehicle and managed to obstruct Thompson’s escape.

Takoma Park Police took Thompson into custody. However, during the arrest, officers noted that Thompson appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. Despite police requesting medical assistance, Thompson refused initially. Thompson was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
