The Prince George’s County Police Department’s (PGPD) Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) recently arrested two suspects in connection with a carrier scam that involved the impersonation of Federal Trade Commission (FTC) agents. The suspects are 30-year-old Zheng Xie of Flushing, New York, and 27-year-old Jianwei Wang of Monterey Park, California.

Beyond MoCo

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will close and detour two ramps on I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) in Prince George’s County as part of a ramp resurfacing project beginning July 6. Work will take place overnight Sundays through Thursdays, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. All work is expected to be complete by the end of July, weather permitting.

50 Top Pizza, an esteemed pizza evaluation site based in Paestum, Italy, near Naples, has unveiled its 2025 Top 50 Pizza list. Known for its rigorous and anonymous inspections, 50 Top Pizza is an independent online guide that ensures unbiased evaluations by paying for meals in full. We’ve previously shared the two Maryland restaurants made the list, but one nearby restaurant in Virginia also made the list.

DMV

Metro has announced a new progress report highlighting “three years of success for Metro’s joint development real estate program.” The program has delivered eight projects in three years totaling 1,490 residential units (813 affordable) and 1 million square feet of office space, resulting in $15 million in new annual tax revenue for local jurisdictions according to a new progress report on Metro’s 10-Year Strategic Plan.   (more…)


North Bethesda

Sardi’s Pollo A La Brasa, founded in 2008 by cousins Phil E. Sardelis and Phil G. Sardelis from Montgomery County, has recently announced plans to expand with five new locations in Maryland. As we reported back in January, one of the upcoming restaurants will be in Rockville and Sardi’s has recently received its permit to begin construction.
