Montgomery County native Matthew “Diggy” Diggs, a 2008 graduate of Damascus High School, just experienced a milestone moment in his short career as a barber that started just under two years ago. Recently selected to serve as the in-house barber in BET’s prestigious hospitality suite for the BET Awards, Diggs’ journey has been one of seizing unexpected opportunities.

Beyond MoCo

As you may have been able to tell, one of our editors is on vacation at one of the most popular beach destinations for those in our area. After years of visits and savoring countless slices from different restaurants at every hour, we believe Trattoria Lombardi’s offers Ocean City’s best pizza– or at least, our favorite. The restaurant is located between 92nd and 93rd Streets (but known as Lombardi’s 94th St.) on Coastal Highway in Ocean City, Maryland, has been a staple for Italian cuisine and pizza since 1962. According to its social media post, the Blair High School branch of Students FAIR (Students For Asylum and Immigration Reform)– Montgomery County student-run organization that advocates for, organizes, and fights for the rights of Maryland immigrant youth and families– has organized a walkout following the deportation of a classmate.

Beyond MoCo

For nearly a century, Thrasher’s French Fries in Ocean City has reigned as the undisputed king of fries in Maryland. Renowned for using the freshest potatoes and frying them in peanut oil, Thrasher’s stands firmly by its tradition of not offering ketchup—a policy clearly communicated by signs at their stands.
