Montgomery College

The Montgomery College class of 2025 will be recognized at the 78th Annual Commencement on Friday, May 23, with more than 1,320 graduates participating and over 3,100 total awardees representing 116 countries. The College will honor students from all campuses and programs, including four Board of Trustees Academic Excellence Award recipients, with the ceremony held at the Rockville Campus Athletic Field.

The Montgomery County Council unanimously approved a $7.6 billion Fiscal Year 2026 Operating Budget and a $6 billion amended FY25–30 Capital Improvements Program. The budget maintains tax rates while prioritizing education, public safety, social services, housing, and transportation, and includes funding increases for Montgomery County Public Schools, Ride On bus service, and health and human services, with both plans set to take effect July 1. MoCo Government

The winners have been announced for the Montgomery County Commission for Women’s eighth annual Girl Power Contest, which celebrates Women’s History Month. Top entries in four age categories will be honored at a June 12 event and recognized online for their creative responses on how media can inspire and empower girls and women.

MoCo Government

The Montgomery County Community Action Board celebrated the graduation of 27 residents from its Community Advocacy Institute (CAI) on May 20, the largest class in the program’s nine-year history. The free, bilingual program provides advocacy training for residents with low to moderate incomes and has graduated 167 participants since its launch in 2016. (more…)

Bumblebee Management has opened the renovated Bumblebee RV Park & Campground along with Beehive Domes, Maryland’s first “geodesic dome glamping destination” at Deep Creek Lake. The redevelopment includes upgraded RV accommodations and fully equipped luxury domes, with future plans to expand into modular housing and consulting services. (more…)

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) announced that due to the City of Rockville’s Memorial Day celebrations, Ride On bus routes 45, 46, 55, and T2 will be detoured from Friday, May 23 through Monday, May 26 at 3 p.m., with specific changes to stops and routing available online.
